Time to shake off the dust

Well here we are again... It has been a while since the last post, but that does not mean I have been idle.  Outside forces (work, She Who Must Be Obeyed, and She Who Must Be Obeyed v2.0) have dominated most of my time.  I decided to cut back on updating this site in favor of painting, the main reason for this site :)

I have moved away from painting large armies, although units for existing armies may pop up from time to time, to more smaller skirmish "armies" or warbands.  I have also tried to make a dent at the twin mountains (metal and the ever growing plastic) and paint up some random things.

I finally painted to Battle Fleet Gothic ships to feed my spaceship fix, and tried my hand at some Gundam models, with some custom paint.  I have painted some BTD Crusaders and fantasy goblins, with orcs on the painting table as I write this.  I have also been looking at some dungeon crawl rules, possible some solo play coming down the line, and placed a large order from reaper mini.  Hopefully I'll get some pictures up soon.

Speaking of BTD, there my be some more pictures of their minis showing up soon...

The Adventurer's guide to the Cyclops

Well fellow travelers here is "The Adventurer's Guide to the Cyclops".  There are many clues to look for when you and your merry band are adventuring to know if you are within a Cyclops' territory.

The first is usually located on the boarder of the territory.  This is the Cyclops' way of saying "Keep Out"....

If for some reason you miss the first clue, then there is the sacrifice rock. This is more common if there is a village nearby.

Now if you think to yourself that those warnings aren't meant for me, then the next "sign" should start to raise some flags.... To the unaware this grouping of rocks might look natural, but on closer inspection they appear to be thrown for target practice.

Finally, if you walk blissfully past these signs like you are on a stroll through the country side, then there is a good chance you will see your last (and final) sign... The Cyclops!

The Cyclops was a plastic toy that was picked up at a craft store.  I added some GW severed heads to his belt as future snacks.  The hanging skulls were also from GW.  The other bones are actually chicken bones that were boiled and cleaned.  I had some fun when making the trio of rock and adding arms and legs beneath two of them.  As you can see from the last picture, the Cyclops is a decent size compared to the Greek adventurer.

C and C always welcome.  Thanks for looking.

Well here we are.....

It has been quite a while since I've updated anything around here.  A lot of things have been happening around the Buck household.  We've sold our old home and bought a new home at the same time.  That's something I don't want to do again any time soon.  We were also hosting Christmas at our new house so everything had to be unpacked and put away in 3 weeks, not an easy thing to do with both the missus and I working full time and a 14 month old.  On top of this, other "real life" factors keep eating away at my free time.  Just recently I have finished some figures that have been on a slow burner for a while now.  They are part of my Greek Mythology warband.  I plan on using a variant of LoTR rules.  So on to the pictures (there are a lot of them)...

Here is the leader of this band of heros.  I still haven't named anyone yet.  He is made up of a Victrix body, GW head, and Wargames Factory arms.

This is a Victrix Greek straight out of the box.

Here is a Victrix Greek with a crest and right arm from a Wargames Factory Roman.

This archer is a Wargames Factory Numidian with a GW head

This guy has a Victrix upper body and the legs from a Wargames Factory Persian, which adds an Eastern flavor to him.

Here is a Wargames Factory Numidian body with Victrix arms and head.

A vanilla Victrix Greek.

This guy is all Victrix accept for the sword which is from Wargames Factory.

Like the guy above, he has a weapon from the Persian figures

This is a Wargames Factory head on a Victrix body.  Makes him look like a Spartan.
And no group of heros would be complete with out a demi god.  Here we have a GW marauder with a Victrix crest and shield.  I painted the bare chest to look like bronze.  He is the same height as the Victrix and Wargames Factory figures which surprised me when I was planning him out.  He just looks like he is on steroids when standing next to the others, which I think fits his demi god status.

This guy has a Victrix head on a Numidian body.  I really love Wargames Factory's Numidians.

The musician has Victrix arms in a Numidian Body

Finally, an angry satyr.  He is a plastic GW beastman from the 90's with a Foundy Gladiator shield.  I cut off the axe blade to make his spear.

I have a ton of Greeks left over and I'm already planning on what to build next.  I also have some Minotaurs, skeletons, human-like things, ogers, centaurs, and giants/ titans waiting on the painting deck....  Let me know what you think.  Thanks for looking.
